About Us

Two Generations of Family - a Legacy of Care Passed from Father to Daughter.
Welcome to our independent, family-run funeral directors, cherished for our compassionate, personalised, and bespoke approach—a reputation we have proudly upheld and nurtured over the years. Based in Wythenshawe, our legacy spans two generations, with a strong tradition of caring for our community. Established in 1994 by Russel Hopps and now led by his daughter Kimberley at J F Thompson & Sons LTD, we believe that the personal touch is essential in making families feel welcome and at ease. Every testimonial we receive reaffirms that we have fulfilled our duty with care and excellence.

Our unwavering commitment is to prioritise you in all that we do.
Experiencing a bereavement is a profoundly emotional time, whether the passing was anticipated or sudden. As your dedicated funeral directors, we are here to offer comprehensive support and assistance in any way we can. Our devoted team provides a personal service around the clock, every day of the year. It is a unique privilege to be a funeral director, standing with sensitivity and care during such a pivotal time in your family’s life. We take immense pride in our service and reputation, confident that it will guide you through this challenging period.

History of the Rose
The tradition of offering a single red rose at each funeral was started by Russel Hopps, symbolising his dedication to providing dignity and comfort to the families in his care. In mourning, a red rose represents love, respect, and the enduring bond between the deceased and their loved ones.
At J F Thompson & Sons LTD, this heartfelt tradition is carried on by Kimberley, who ensures that each rose given honours the memory of the departed and brings comfort to grieving families. The rose is either held, placed on the coffin or sometimes pressed for remembrance.
